Habgen Guargums Limited (HABGEN) was incorporated in 1955 under the name of Habib General Limited. Originally a pioneering joint venture between Habib Brothers Ltd. of Pakistan and General Mills Inc. of U.S.A., with Habib providing local know-how and infrastructural support and General Mills providing machinery, technical know-how and international marketing.
Serving Guar market for more than 6 decades, HABGEN today stands amongst the world leaders in the manufacturing of Natural Guar Gums. The manufacturing plant is ideally located in Karachi to access some of the world’s primary sources of Guar Seeds, whilst at the same time having the advantage of being in the primary port city to efficiently serve international market.
HABGEN has over the years, built-up a reputation as a reliable, “on time” supplier of high quality Guar Gums marketed under the brand names of Procol® for food applications and Viscol® for non-food applications.
The Procol® Guar Gum is Halal and Kosher approved.
The production of Guar Protein is also simultaneously undertaken and marketed as Hyprofeed™ Super. Hyprofeed™ serves as a high protein supplement in poultry and cattle feeds.
Our quality control systems ensure continuous user satisfaction in a diverse range of industries from processed foods, including pet foods and fish feeds to the petroleum and mining industry.
To enhance & nurture the customers’ confidence and standardized the quality management system at HABGEN, we accomplished ISO 9001 certification in 2004, the scope of supply is “Manufacturer and Exporter of Natural Food and Non-Food Guar Gum Products”.
HABGEN is the amongst the first few companies in Pakistan to achieve HACCP certification in 2005 and the first one in competing Guar Gum Industry of Pakistan, the scope of supply is “Manufacturer and Exporter of Natural Food Grade Guar Gum Products”.
Moving forward and repeating the history, HABGEN feels proud to be the one of few companies in Pakistan to accomplish GFSI recognized certification FSSC in June 2013 and the first one in the field of Guar Gum Manufacturing.
The ISO 9001, HACCP and FSSC 22000 systems were assessed and certified by Bureau Veritas, a biannual surveillance audit and three yearly recertification audit is also carried out by Bureau Veritas to verify the system is align with the latest standards update.
